As a child, nothing is more fun than playing in the rain! Rainy days are for splashing in puddles, playing with water toys, catching raindrops on your tongue and looking for rainbows. What can you do when it’s too chilly outside? Find some rainy day activities and make the best of it! Grab your raincoat and your boots and let’s go skipping through the rain!

GratitudeNov. 13th

Screen Shot 2015-11-13 at 9.11.13 AM

Thanksgiving is always a time for reflection. It’s a time to feel the warmth and comfort of family and friends. We tend to express what we are grateful for and what we intend to do to make life positive and happy. We honor those who are no longer with us and cherish those who are. Here are a few things you can do with kids to teach them about gratitude.

Screen Shot 2015-11-13 at 9.11.54 AM

Make a list of things to be thankful for, right on your placemat or paper tablecloth.

Screen Shot 2015-11-13 at 9.14.03 AM

Create a jar of gratitude. Come up with some conversation starters and write them on a piece of paper (cut it into a fun and festive shape.)

Screen Shot 2015-11-13 at 9.15.27 AM

Decorate rocks with grateful messages. Give them to people at your gathering or have each person write one. You can even spread them in the garden or place them around the house afterwards.

Screen Shot 2015-11-13 at 9.16.04 AM

Paint clothespins and write something you are grateful for on them and make a garland or wreath to display your messages.

However you decide to show your gratitude, have fun, be creative and enjoy your Thanksgiving! We wish you all a very special holiday!

Color TherapyOct. 17th

Coloring has always been associated with kids, but it is quickly becoming a trend for adults. Many companies are producing coloring books for adults and used for meditation. Coloring has always been thought of as therapeutic. It’s calming and fun at the same time.

Fall Crafts For KidsSep. 25th

Fall has arrived! Now you can enjoy some fun crafts with the kids and decorate for the season! We love a good DIY project and we have one that will take you back to your own childhood. We found this craft on Edventures.

Screen Shot 2015-09-25 at 7.38.51 AM

Leaf rubbing is a fun way to bring the bold colors of Fall into your home. Kids love doing this sort of thing and We love it too;) It’s a nice inexpensive way to do a craft and get outside for a bit too. The kids will have fun picking out the perfect leaves for their project.

Here’s what you’ll need to get started:

Feel free to mix and match your papers and drawing supplies in any way you’d like to for the project.  For example, you might use oil pastels with all three types of paper to examine how the leaf print looks different based on the type of paper.  Or you could use all three drawing tools (crayons, oil pastels and colored pencils) on one paper to create a more textured leaf print.

Screen Shot 2015-09-25 at 7.41.16 AM

The last piece to this fun craft is hanging your leaf rubbing for all to see! Yay Fall!
