Now that the kiddos are headed back to school, we have to get organized. Back to school shopping is so fun! Let’s take a stroll back to our own childhood. Here are some fun back to school essentials.

Backpacks:Backpack Buying Tips (
How do you pick the best backpack for your child when you’re facing a full aisle in the store? Here are a few things to keep in mind when you’re shopping.
Two straps: This will distribute the weight evenly and is safer for the carrier’s back, neck and shoulders.
Reflective: If children will be walking home from school or out at night, their backpack should have pieces of reflective material on the bag.
Fit: Have your child try on the bag before you purchase it. The bottom of the bag should meet the lower back, but should not be more than 4 inches below the waistline. The point at which the bag and straps meet should be 1 to 2 inches below the top of the shoulders.
Weight: When you’ve selected the right backpack, make sure you don’t overload it. The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons recommends that a backpack should not exceed 15 to 20 percent of a child’s body weight, but the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends not exceeding 10 percent.

We love the ones on Land of Nod!

Ice cream!Aug. 11th

What is summer, without ice cream?! Every kid (and big kid) wants to visit the ice cream shop during hot summer months! Even better, the ice cream truck!  These cheerful little vehicles have come a long way. With the food truck trend, the good old ice cream man has had to step it up a notch;)

Before the summer is over, you must check out some frozen treat trucks. The kids will love it and the big kid in you will too. Check out some of the cool trucks we found online. Maybe you will get inspired to grab a cone.

Screen Shot 2015-04-20 at 2.16.13 PM

Grow for the season. Only grow things that are in season to cut down on wasted water.

Screen Shot 2015-04-20 at 2.18.34 PM
